RS Components parent company, Electrocomponents, has appointed Peter Johnson as chairman.

This follows the retirement of Helmut Mamsch at the recent AGM.

Hitachi's display products group has named MSC GmbH as its European distributor of the year. There were also awards for Arrow and Glyn.

According to Mats Sjöbrand, director of Avnet Embedded North Europe, Sharp's TFT LCDs are applicable in a range of applications from standard industrial, instrumentation and handheld products to medical and retail devices.  

The agreement between Avnet Embedded and Sharp covers the full portfolio of colour TFT LCD display products.

GTK UK has appointed Julie Arrowsmith as sales director.

Previously Julie had over twenty years' experience with Abacus Electronics, working in the supply chain throughout the UK, Europe and China.



In her new role with GTK, Julie, pictured here with George Homes, managing director of GTK, will have responsibility for the sales and customer service functions. 

RS Components has added an Arduino design resource to its DesignSpark community website.

Since it emerged from the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, Italy, Arduino has been used by developers for the design of control interfaces.

Mouser Electronics is continuing its push in to Europe with the opening of a sales office in Milan.

This continues Mouser's roll out plan of sites in Europe, which began with Munich and also now includes the UK, which also services Scandinavia, France and Israel.
