Energy Micro has extended its distribution agreement with Avnet to include Asia as well as Europe and the Americas.
The main product being Energy Micro's low power EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers, based on the ARM Cortex-M3 architecture.
"The market is more and more looking for ultra low power, high performance microcontroller solutions - especially for battery operated applications," said Francis Lam, Avnet Electronics Marketing Asia's director of marketing.
With centres for new product design and manufacture likely to be in different parts of the world, a global distribution agreement can be a big advantage.
"OEM and CEM customers now operate on a global scale and this latest agreement enables us to support them via Avnet wherever they have design or manufacturing," said Bryan Hung, Energy Micro's v-p of sales for Asia.
