After over 25 years of service Gary Kibblewhite has stepped down as chair of Milan-based association of electronics supply chain trade associations, IDEA.

Adam Fletcher, chairman of ecsn, will replace Kibblewhite as IDEA chairman.

Arrow Electronics has added to its lighting product offering in Europe with a franchise for Carclo Optics line of lighting products in Europe and the rest of the EMEA region.

Slough-based Carclo Optics supplies a range of lighting products including lenses, reflectors, optics and modules. Carclo develops street lighting systems, among others.

"Following our numerous successful projects in Northern Europe, we are now expanding our cooperation with Arrow in the EMEA region," said David Sumner, LED Optics division manager, CTP.

Arrow intends to provide technical consultancy to support the lighting products ranging from drivers and connectors through power and thermal management solutions through to LEDs.

Acal is continuing along its path of specialising in the supply of communications, and particularly optical fibre, components.

Avnet Memec has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with wireless system-in-package specialist apm Communication (apmComm) of Taiwan.

Avnet Abacus has signed a pan-European franchise agreement with waterproof connector and cable assembly supplier Amphenol LTW.

This is Amphenol LTW's first pan-European distribution agreement.

There seems to be every possibility that the first few months of 2011 will continue to be positive for the component market.

But very quickly the outlook starts to look hazy.

Mouser Electronics has signed a distribution partnership with Olimex, a supplier of development and evaluation tools for the prototyping of ARM, AVR, MSP430, MAXQ, PIC and Gecko microcontrollers.
       
The signing means the distributor has added to its development tool support for the microcontrollers it sells from manufacturers such as Texas Instruments, Maxim, Microchip, Atmel, NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, Cirrus Logic and Energy Micro.

OK signs Upton Australia

OK International has confirmed the appointment of Upton Australia as a new distributor partner in the region.

Melbourne-based Upton Australia will distribute OK International's full range of electronic assembly products including both the Metcal and OKi brands.

"With this addition, our end-user customers will be assured that genuine Metcal and OKi branded products are readily available," said Mark Cowell, president of OK International.
