Hippy entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley

More on green design, I’m afraid. An article in the FT today paints a picture of hybrid venture capitalists, who have been ‘greened’ by hanging out with the detritus of California’s beatnik/hippy culture in funky cafes.

The hybrid entrepreneurs are getting on with making environmentally-friendly cars because the major manufacturers appear reluctant to bother.

Amongst the firms listed are: Tesla Motors, with their electric sports car (0-60 in under four seconds); Project Better Place, a start-up with $200m behind it; Wrightspeed, another electric sports car; Silicon Valley-backed Norwegian firm Think Global.

A UK firm Ilika Technologies is working on the solid-state storage of hydrogen. But is it all happening too slowly? I guess we can only watch the skies and wait to see…
