Intel unveils Tangent Bay multi-screen concept laptop

File under "Multi-touch, Multi-Screen Intel Concept Laptop 2009"

Intel's mobility innovation team unveiled "Tangent Bay" at IDF. It describes it as "the first multi-touch, multi-screen concept laptop based on research and feedback from people who multi-task with work, media creation, entertainment and social networking."

Taking design cues from the touch interface of smartphones such as the iPod, up to 12 "auxiliary displays" can be presented on the screen. Via manipulation of the three mini "screen-pads" you can flick particular displays up on to the "big screen", and even tile all twelve.

In the example, there is talk of having a share ticker in one window, and a weather forecast in another, which may not be a very compelling example, but I'm sure there are all apps we could keep an eye on "in the background". Think of World Cups, for example, with games on during work hours... or the Ashes, or the European Championship, or Wimbledon, etc...
