Acal BFi continues specialist push with laser line
Acal BFi has signed the optical component line of US-based manufacturer CVI Laser Optics.
The new agreement covers sales and support of optical components and assemblies in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland and UK.
Acal BFi continues to position itself as a specialist design and assembly services company in the UK distribution market.
The distributor has recently opened a custom product assembly and manufacturing centre at its Wokingham facility as part of a £2m investment.
“I believe the UK distribution market has fundamentally changed,” said Nick Jefferies, group chief executive of Acal.
“This is market with more small and medium-sized customers which are difficult to find, and we have to accept that electronics is a minority element of the total systems cost for many customers,” said Jefferies.
Jefferies said that Acal is changing its business model to adapt to the new market and to differentiate itself from larger broadline distributors.
“We are confident this partnership will bring great value and service to our European customers as Acal BFi expands its CVI Laser Optics offerings to better support the market,” said Lisa Walsh, vice president of global sales at CVI Laser Optics.
