Will he or won’t he (buy an iPad)?

front-and-back-3g-100.jpgElectronics Weekly‘s esteemed Component Editor, David Manners, has many virtues, but I’m sorry to say it seems constancy is not one of them. Not when it comes to an Apple iPad

On the Mannerisms blog, he was against it, and then for it, and now he is agin it, again…

* Portable But Not Pocketable: Why iPad? (January – against)

“Do I want to pay another £30 a month to a network operator? Do I want to carry around a ten inch screen? Do I want to read books on a bright screen?”

* Oh God It’s The Next Big-ish Thing (March – for)
“The Wifi-only version is the one for me. I can put it on my bedside table – where my iPhone used to be – and read news and mail in the morning; in the daytime, I will put it on the table by the sofa to pick up and read as needs be.”

* iPhone Much Better Than iPad (May – against)

“You really wouldn’t want to carry an iPad around. It’s slippery. Those smooth surfaces and rounded edges make you think you’d drop it. That’s $500 down the drain. Nor would you really want to carry it around in a briefcase when it adds 1.5lb to the weight of your bag.”

Will he, or won’t he, buy an iPad? Will the flipping and flopping stop? Take part in our quick poll.
