ARM’s Mali GPU makes Android progress

mali-450-mp.jpgARM has signed 75 licenses for its Mali GPU which are now in 70% of graphics-enabled digital TVs, 50% of Android tablets and 20% of Android smartphones, said ARM at Mobile World Congress this morning.

Mali GPU volumes, writes David Manners, have grown from less than 50 million Mali-enabled SoCs in 2011 to more than 150 million in 2012. They are expected to top 240 million in 2013.

Of the Mali graphics processors shipped last year, more than 95% were in SoCs alongside Cortex-A series processors.
