Facebook forgoes HTML 5 for native Android app development
An interesting post on PocketLint bringing together Facebook, HTML 5 and Android… Facebook working on native Android app, HTML5 development has wasted years
The website reports on Mark Zuckerberg speaking in an interview with Michael Arrington at “TechCrunch Disrupt” in San Francisco.
Basically, Zuckerberg admits to dropping the ball when it comes to Facebook on mobiles. Specifically, that the company had wasted years pursuing a platform-neutral HTML5 approach, whereas it was now committed to going native – Android and iOS, etc, when it came to app development.
“The biggest mistake we made as a company was betting too much on HTML5 instead of native… We burnt two years.”
“Native is going to be the approach that we go with for iOS and Android.”
