Gadget Watch: Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 tablet

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12-2Better than the iPad air? Samsung would have you believe its latest tablet is setting new standards – the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2, is now available in the UK.

Samsung claims it has the world’s first 12.2-inch WQXGA widescreen (16:10) display (2560 x 1600 pixels and a colour depth of 16 million colours), and says the device is for more than passively consuming content. It says the processor (Samsung’s own ARM-based Exynos 5 1.9GHz Octa-Core Processor along with 3GB of RAM) will support content creation and allow you “to manage your personal and professional life from the same device.”

A Multi Window feature lets you split the screen into four different windows and drag and edit content with the device’s Samsung S Pen. You can access and manage your home or office PC from a remote location via Samsung’s Remote PC feature.

Measuring 203.9 x 295.5 x 7.95mm (H x W x D), it has a 32GB hard drive and runs the latest 4.4 “KitKat” version of Android. For the camera and webcam, there is an 8 megapixel CMOS sensor with LED flash.

“We’re excited to bring the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 to market and set a new standard of excellence for the tablet category,” said Simon Stanford, Vice President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland. “The Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 comes complete with a premium design, world class viewing experience and unique features, making it a must-have device.”

You can expect to find it in the likes of Carphone Warehouse and John Lewis, for £649.
