L+B: Osram claims 205 lm/W wall plug efficiency
With apologies for missing it earlier: Osram has hit 205 lm/W with a LED-based fluorescent tube replacement.
That is 215 lm/W without the custom 95% efficient mains power supply.
Inside, said the firm, are:
materials with maximum reflection – not sure what that means – and
“innovative” integrated optics
Output from 19W input is a credible is 3,900 lm of 3,000K light with 90 CRI – so no high colour temperatue poor CRI shortcuts here.
Osram bought together its central research department, optical semiconductor business, and lamp business, to make the prototype.
There isn’t a photo, but you don’t need one as it looks just like a fluorescent tube.
