Amsterdam Arena show uses 1.5km of LED

sgm-sensation-led.jpgAmsterdam Arena was transformed into a sea of white for the premiere of Sensation’s new show Source of Light recently, when 40,000 people gathered under a huge spherical centrepiece, including bespoke LED strips from SGM, writes Paul Milligan of our sister site AVinteractive.com.

SGM’s Dutch distributor RentAll, was asked to decorate an all-aluminium, 14m radiating sphere weighing 12 tons, and operated by multiple motors.

SGM provided 1.5km of DMX-controlled LED strip, matching the very specific requirements.

The entire rig required 36,000 DMX channels to drive it while the rig itself was comprised of nearly 100,000 LEDs. This was made up from 224 pieces of 2.15m, 210 pieces of 2.11m and 130 pieces of 1.73m lengths.
