LED news and insight from our technology editor Steve Bush, who has been messing with LED lighting for more years than he would care to remember.
LED Dragonfly street lighting, with camera
We’ve been writing about the rollout of LED streetlights, well, why not go the whole hog and have LED Dragonflies atop the lamps?
Note, however, they also conceal cameras for eyeing the street below. Street art and security benefits…
See these efforts, apparently from Seoul, South Korea (thanks to www.newlaunches.com for this one).
“The Dragonfly looks like a fancy streetlamp but along with the four LED feathers but hidden inside it is a crime prevention camera,” writes the website. “So not only does it light up the streets but it also keeps a watchful eye on passerbys. Apart from a dragon fly the street lamps come in the form of a sea gull and butterfly as well. Originally developed by a Korean company you will find such lights across Seoul and soon they will light up Tokyo as well.”
