Thorn Lighting targets LED streetlights with Hess deal
Hess AG and Thorn Lighting have signed an agreement which gives Thorn the rights to market the Hess brand in UK & Ireland, including Hess’ entire outdoor lighting and site furnishing ranges, writes Richard Wilson.
Hess and Thorn launched their new partnership at this year’s LuxLive exhibition in London in November.
“We’re making a significant effort to re-establish ourselves in outdoor products and the addition of the Hess portfolio ensures that Thorn is back in outdoor, from functional street lighting to high-end specification,” said Paul Coggins, MD of Thorn UK & Ireland.
Christoph Hess, CEO of the Hess Group, expects the cooperation to improve Hess’ presence significantly in the UK.
“Thorn enjoys an excellent reputation and has an extensive sales network that provides municipalities with functional and technical outdoor lighting,” said Hess.
Both companies said they expect growth in the UK & Ireland market. An important part of that growth will be LED products for street and architectural lighting.
In 2003, Hess introduced the world’s first code-compliant LED streetlight.
Thorn also has LED street lighting products such as Dyana LED, StyLED and the new Indra and Clan luminaires.
Thorn Lighting has also launched an energy consultation service to help reduce carbon emissions within the lighting industry.Tags: carbon emissions, consultation service, cooperation, outdoor lighting, reputation, street lighting products
