I can’t believe someone makes… Recursive remote controls that include the TV

A TV remote control that displays other channels on itself? Wow. The decadent’s decadence… watch the telly AND the remote?

And who’s got the remote-remote to change the channel? This recursion could go on forever, until we run out of room in the room, or power…. Someone save us from ourselves!

Samsung 9000 Series Remote In Action from PopSci.com on Vimeo.

Thanks to Techeblog for this one, it writes:

samsung-led-9000-remote.jpgIn addition to announcing a plethora of 3D TVs at CES 2010, Samsung also showed the LED 9000 remote. What sets this model apart from the others is that it “enables you to watch TV on the remote while playing a Blu-ray disc on the screen.”

You know, I think I actually want this one. But maybe I should just have a little lie down till the feeling passes!

True, Yuefie, but I reckon those scenarios could be even better handled by picture-in-picture functionality. I can also see the remote’s interface getting a bit complicated, maintaining two channels on the go…

I can think of a very good use for this.
Imagine you are watching a program or movie on TV and it now cuts to the adverts. You switch over to another channel, hopefully with something more interesting on. With the remote, you keep track of when the original channel’s program resumes so you do not miss a beat.
    Or,
You are watching a sporting event, there are two concurring matches that you are really interested in, you obviously cannot watch both at the same time. You watch the main one and keep an eye on the other one using the remote.
