Impossible objects #1: Simplified Calculator

carelman-simplified-calculator.jpgA friend recently introduced me to the Catalogue of Impossible Objects by Jacques Carelman (a member of the College of ‘Pataphysics).

It includes such items as twisted hammers, conflicting cycles and flat chairs. A home had to be found on the Made By Monkeys blog!

Following in the footsteps of our new ‘I can’t believe someone makes…‘ series, I wish someone would make these improbable products. How about the simplified calculator, for example? Let’s get back to basics, “base one” style (or is it a binary calculator with a missing zero?)

Not so much a blivet (the devil’s tuning fork) or a poiuyt (“ten pounds of manure in a five pound bag”), as an objet introuvables…

Actually, Austin, there are only 10 types of people in the world — those who understand ternary, those who don’t, and those who mistake it for binary :-)
