Impossible Objects #15: The clock that draws the time
A bit of fun for a Friday. This has been described as the “coolest clock ever”. That might be a bit OTT, but it makes you smile and is a clever idea.
Check out the video and just in case you don’t work it out: there is not really a man inside the clock re-drawing the time each minute, with pen and ruler. It is in fact a clock video of a man drawing the time with pen and ruler… They are action packed hours!
According to the poster on YouTube, the clock was on display at Design Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach 2009.
Actually, just maybe it is a real person… Check out this alternate man-behind-the-clock!

Here’s another “hand drawn” clock.

And it gets better. Here’s a clock that knits, with no hands.

Like it, Alan! Particularly this bit of the description “…Every passing of a half hour is marked by the knitting of mesh…and a year results in a 2m-long scarf.” Unfortunately I am a 90m scarf old!
