World Cup Bollox
Our pathetic performance in the World Cup, followed by Harry Redknapp’s comments that players used to come to him asking him to get them excused from England duty, makes me think: what do England players get paid?
The gobsmacking answer seems to be:
£2500 for a win
£1650 for a draw
£1000 for a lose.
Little wonder the players don’t want to wear an England shirt.
For the World Cup the players were to get £650,000 each – if they won the tournament.
That’s two weeks pay for Rooney.
Or half a bribe for a FIFA member’s vote.
With all the £100s of millions sloshing around in football, the hand-outs seem to be going to the wrong people – millions for FIFA members, thousands for the players on which the whole show depends.
Football should go for an alternative World Cup competition – just like boxing has the WBA, WBC etc – set up and controlled by reputable countries and consign the inept and corrupt FIFA to football’s dustbin.Tags: England players, fifa, Harry Redknapp, world cup, World Cup Bollox
