The grass is always greener on the other side of the hedge and everyone thinks the other guy’s business is an easier one than his own, but is it wise of Tesco to make a tablet?
Word is that Tesco will have a 7 inch, £100 tablet on the market by Christmas.
A lot of people now think it’s easy to get into the smartphone or tablet market.
To an extent the phone or tablet business is an easy one to get into.
Trot along to a Chinese ODM and he’ll lash up anything for you. But will the result be worth having?
To do it well, like Apple and Samsung do, is a capability confined to only a few companies.
For instance Amazon’s Kindle Fire is, IMHO, a piece of overweight horse manure.
Well-engineered, intuitive software is rare – and absolutely key – to endear these things to the public.
I hope I’m I’m wrong but I expect Tesco will make a fool of itself with this project.
