Apple Pie In The Sky
What on earth is going on at Apple?
The shares are below $400; inventory of unsold iPhones is said to be twice normal levels; staff are leaving; the CEO speaks empty platitudes about products which enhance lives and makes empty gestures like linking his pay to Apple’s share price vs the S&P index; a dubious new OS is palmed off as progress.
Instead of building 110 million iPhones in H2, Apple is now expected to build 85 million.
People expect products from Apple. Innovative, thrilling products. But there have been no new products for a year.
CEO Tim Cook’s public performances are singularly unimpressive. He comes across as guarded, non-communicative and smug.
Rather like Nokia top management after they’d been hit by the launch of the original iPhone in 2007.
Maybe top management is the same the whole world over – when in trouble go into denial.Tags: apple pie, denial, iphones, pie in the sky, tim cook
