Fable: The Sacked Super-Sales Guy
There was once a great semiconductor sales guy who got the sack.
‘As usual I had no money,” he recalls, “I’m sure I didn’t have $1,000 in the bank.”
The great man’s solution was to rent a beach house in Malibu for a month. That cost $600.
He considered a number of new career options: being an agent in the entertainment business, getting a car dealership and setting up a travel agency.
Fortunately he did none of those things. Some former colleagues phoned and, because they thought he had money-raising skills, asked him to join them in starting a semiconductor company.
Last year the company had revenues of over $5 bn.
