Fable: The Millionaire
Nearly 50 years ago, the greatest analogue chip designer in the world resigned.
He was asked by his company why he was leaving and he told them he wanted to be rich.
The company asked him how rich – how much it would cost them to keep him.
He replied one million dollars tax-free.
Although his designs were making many times that amount for his employers, the company wouldn’t pay the million.
So the great designer went to a new company which gave him shares which, two years later, were worth a million.
And the new company became No1 in analogue.
Moral: The Labourer is Worthy of his Hire.
