Panasonic Becomes Intel Foundry Client

Panasonic joins Intel’s foundry client list along with Altera, Achronix, Tabula, Netronome, Microsemi and the unannounced, but long-rumoured, Cisco.

Panasonic, which recently put three of its own fabs into a jv with TowerJazz, has contracted to use Intel’s low-power 14nm process.

In April Panasonic entered into a jv with Fujitsu to form a fabless semiconductor company owned 40% by Panasonic, 20% by Fujitsu and 40% by the government-owned Development Bank of Japan.
