IC Market Just Keeps On Growing
It took 15 years for the IC market to grow from $10 billion in 1980 to $100 billion in 1995, according to Arizona analysts IC Insights.
It took another 10 years to double in size to $200 billion in 2005.
It will take eight years to increase another $100 billion to reach $300 billion in 2013.
So the IC market topped $10 billion in 1980, reached $100 billion in 1995 and hit $200 billion in 2005, and is set to hit $300 billion in 2013.
In unit terms the 2011 market is forecast to top 200 billion IC units for the first time.
Shipments of analogue devices in 2011 are forecast to surpass 100billion and therefore, for the first time, will account for over half the total market.
Makes you wonder why analysts and managers are so cautious.
