It’s Time To Start Colour TV Broadcasts, says BBC
‘BBC Television is the world’s senior TV service, celebrating its 25th anniversary next year.’
S0, 52 years ago, opened a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of December 7th 1960.
The story continues:
‘But in colour television,, which is now going ahead in America, Russia and Japan, Britain can only be fourth in the field, if not even further down the list.’
‘This was stated by Mr Roland Fox, assistant head of BBC publicity, in a recent talk to members of the Derby Rotary Club.
“The BBC have been experimenting with colour television since 1946,” he said, “it is pretty good – I have seen it.”
‘The feeling in the BBC is that a programme should be put out as soon as possible in this country, he suggested.’
