Machine-to-Machine Comms Is Ultimate Aim
‘Machine-to-machine communication is the ultimate aim envisaged by W.E.Brunt, Communications Superintendent (Systems) of BOAC.’
So, 51 years ago, started a story in Electronics Weekly’s edition of January 18th 1961.
The story continues:
‘With the increasing load on aircrew high-loaded by recent reports of mishaps, an advance towards automation of advisory and routine messages is beneficial.’
‘Generally, routine traffic may be regarded as factual (position reports) and executive information (instructions etc). For preference, says Mr Brunt, the former function will be performed on a machine-to-machine basis, i.e. the aircraft equipment rather than the crew, to report position to automatic data processing at the ATC Centre.’
