Good Old Canadians
On Tuesday Canada passed a law making it illegal to send someone a commercial email without their consent.
The penalty for an individual sending a commercial email without consent is a million Canadian dollars or $940,000 US dollars.
The penalty for a company sending a commercial email without consent is ten million Canadian dollars.
The application of the law will be regulated by Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission.
Consent can be implied – e.g. for existing customers.
This seems like a good idea.Tags: application of the law, Canadian dollars
