    Me? Cynical? Road tax and fuel tax and the state of our roads would show that is not the case.

    The right scheme for Europe might turn out to be to cover 3% of the Sahara desert with solar powered steam generators.
    Or to put it another way – no other proposed scheme comes close to doing the job (for Europe at any rate)

    None of these schemes are as silly as spending massive amounts of money installing windmills without having a clue how to cost effectively store enough energy to smooth out demand and supply.

    Pay people a “cash for clunkers” bonus if they trade-in their 20 year old Mini for a new supercharged RangeRover.

    Paying a carbon tax can’t be silly can it?
    I have bought a huge gas guzzler on the grounds that the more carbon tax I pay the better off the planet will be. Is Dr Bob suggesting that Carbon Taxes are just a cynical way of raising taxes?

    Only allow payments for renewable electricity generation if the system was installed by someone who has paid money to join an arbitrary government scheme (called MCS)
