Si Valley VC Funding Back to 2001 Level
Silicon Valley VC investments were $7.4 billion in Q2, reports Dow Jones VentureSource, out of a total of $13.8 billion in VC investments across the whole of the US.
Silicon Valley’s $7.4 billion was the highest quarterly figure invested in the Valley since 2001 at the height of the dot.com bubble.
The Q1 figure was $6.27 billion. However there were more deals done in Q1 – 337 – than in Q2 – 327.
Interestingly, Q2 software investments at $1.38 billion were 38% down on Q1
$1.07 billion went into health care start-ups – double the Q1 figure.
Reflecting the preference for late-stage funding over start-up funding, $1.2 billion went to taxi service Uber, $450 million went to Airbnb, $225 million to Pure Storage and $200 million to Pinterest.Tags: Dow Jones VentureSource, Si Valley VC, silicon valley, vc investments
