New Name (But Not That New) For RIM
RIM has renamed itself Blackberry. The move was announced today in New York when it launched its make or break product, the Blackberry 10.
It comes in two flavours – the touch-screen Z10 and the keyboard-ed Q10.
The company’s shares fell 3.8% during the presentation.
According to analysts IDC reporting earlier this week, Blackberry is not in the top five smartphone vendors. That suggests it has a world market share below 5% – a low base from which to attack the leaders – Samsung on 29% market share and Apple on 21.8%.Tags: Apple, keyboard, samsung, touch screen, world market share
