Astute sets up Chinese subsidiary Richard Wilson
Distributor Astute Electronics has set up its first sales office in China as it looks to grow sales from manufacturers which have moved to the region.
The Hertfordshire-based distributor took the decision last year to set up a Shanghai-based subsidiary to support its customers who were moving manufacturing to the Far East.
We will also be able to build our relationship with the global CEMs (contract manufacturers) who have set up in the Shanghai area, said Ian Fantham, sales director of Astute.
The non-franchised distributor will also use the subsidiary to source some components from China. According to Fantham: Future plans include regional offices in other major Chinese cities and surrounding countries so we have local people dealing with local customers.
The registration of Astute Electronics Trading (Shanghai) is the result of two year’s activity in China helped by China Britain Business Council (CBBC), which is a Government initiative to encourage UK firms to trade in China.
