Shareholders threaten Cellnet sale
Richard Wilson BT’s ?3.15bn bid to take full ownership of the BT Cellnet mobile phone operator may face opposition from a group of shareholders in Cellnet’s other owner Securicor. Despite Securicor’s board agreeing to sell its 40 per cent stakeholding in the mobile phone operator, a small group of the firm’s shareholders are unhappy with the ?3.15bn sale price. The shareholders have made the move after seeing another mobile operator, One2One, sold to Deutsche Telekom at a price which places a higher value on the firm’s subscribers.
