Synopsys says Q4 will be above expectationsNews from E-InSite
The second biggest EDA player, Synopsys, said preliminary Q4 revenue and earnings before goodwill (EBG) results look to be above analysts’ expectations.
Synopsys said it expects revenue to be $307m to $309m, slightly above the First Call consensus estimate of $307m and 68 per cent above year-ago quarter levels.
EBG is expected to be about 96 cents to 98 cents per share, which is “well above the First Call consensus estimate of 87 cents per share, and 149 per cent above year-ago quarter levels,” the company said.
Perpetual licenses should account for 25 per cent of product orders, within the previously guided range of 20 per cent to 25 per cent. Operating cash for the quarter is expected to be more than $100m. During the quarter, Synopsys repurchased $130m of its own stock at an average price of $42.53.
Synopsys also announced that it is reaffirming its fiscal 2003 EBG guidance of $3.25 per share.
Meanwhile, the company cautioned that these anticipated results are preliminary, and are subject to the closing of its books and customary quarterly accounting procedures.
