Avnet adds Intel wireless devices for M2M push
Avnet Embedded has added the Intel wireless module line to its sales linecard in Europe.
The distributor will offer Intel Centrinol Embedded Wireless half mini-card PCIe modules which are used in systems such as embedded PCs and machine-to-machine (M2M) devices.
“The wireless adaptors provide greater coverage through the use of multiple-spatial streams, and improved connectivity through objects like doors and walls is assured,” said Alastair Worth, marketing director, wireless at Avnet Embedded.
Wireless PCI Express cards are available to support the following operating systems - Linux, Windows 7and Windows 7 for Embedded Systems, with support for Windows 8 planned.
The modules have integrated Bluetooth 4.0 / SMART Ready support.
These products mean that Avnet Embedded can offer 802.11n throughput options from 150Mbit/s through to 450Mbit/s, while also supporting legacy protocols and data rates of 802.11abg.
“It is an exciting time as more and more previously stand-alone devices and application become part of the ‘connect from anywhere’ movement and we need strong partners like Avnet Embedded to help us reach the widest possible market,” said Simon Wilyman, EMEA embedded broadmarket sales director at Intel.
