Avnet Abacus has signed a pan-European franchise deal with Omron Electronic Components.

The deal follows Avnet’s acquisition of German distributor MSC Group, which has had the Omron franchise in Europe for a number of years.  Avnet Abacus will sell Omron’s complete product range including relays, switches, connectors and sensing devices.

According to Graham McBeth, president of Avnet Abacus, the agreement will extend the distributor’s product offering and it will be able to “capitalise on the excellent relationship already forged between Omron and MSC.”

“Bringing Avnet Abacus on board to support our electronic components business in Europe was a clear-cut decision,” said Leon Mordang, Vice President Sales and Marketing Omron.

“We now have the dual benefit of effectively continuing to work with a tried and tested distribution partner,” said Mordang.

The distributor is offering a range of Omron switches, including snap action and detection devices supplied in a variety of actuators, termination and mounting styles. In addition, the portfolio features high-reliability FPC & PCB connectors, including models that offer Omron’s patented rotary backlock mechanism.
