Rebound gets SC21 accreditation for aerospace market
Rebound Electronics has achieved silver accreditation in ‘Supply Chains for the 21st Century’ (SC21), for the national aerospace and defence supply chain.
The component distributor received the award at this month’s Farnborough Airshow. Previously Rebound was awarded the bronze SC21 level in February 2011, followed by AS9120 approval in March 2011.
The SC21 silver level is awarded to companies that can provide verified customer performance data. In order to achieve this level of quality and excellence, Rebound has followed an intense Continuous Sustainable Improvement Plan (CSIP), which is focused on business improvements.
Currently there are only 19 companies in the UK with the silver level of award.
“It’s fantastic that we have achieved silver SC21 accreditation, especially being the first UK electronics component distributor to attain this level,” said Sheila Lord, Rebound’s quality and materials manager.
Through working on the SC21 programme, Rebound said it had seen significant improvements in its workplace organisation and operations through the initial manufacturing and business excellence assessments, the introduction of the CSIP and the implementation of an NVQ training programme for Lean and Business Improvement Techniques.
The CSIP captures all the ideas and unexplored opportunities that would typically arise when a problem occurred, but disappeared when the problem was solved. By capturing these ideas, Rebound as a whole has a much wider knowledge of quality and the way the different elements of the business link together.
