Renesas praises Silica's MCU strategy
Silica has been named as Renesas Electronics’ best-performing European distributor of 2012.
“2012 has been a challenging year for all of us, however Silica’s innovative Core ‘n More Microcontroller Program, is enabling Renesas to outperform in a competitive market,” said Robert Green, CEO of Renesas Electronics Europe at the semiconductor company’s European distribution meeting in Hamburg.
According to Miguel Fernandez, president, Silica, the distributor’s Core ‘n More microcontroller initiative is supporting “a wide range of microcontroller technologies like Renesas’s RX and RL78 solutions for the industrial and lighting markets.”
At the centre of the Core ‘n More programme are Silica’s eight microcontroller lines.
The distributor supplies ARM-based MCUs from Texas Instruments, NXP, Freescale, STMicroelectronics and Cypress.
But this is not just an ARM initiative, the portfolio includes non-ARM core microcontrollers such as Microchip and Renesas or Intel for high-end embedded applications.
The distributor supports the silicon with Linux and other relevant embedded operating systems, namely Microsoft Windows Embedded.
It also offer modules and engineering support for development systems, including Compilers, Debuggers, Simulators, Emulators and Development Boards.
