UK electronics supplier sees strength in new markets
Indicators continue to show an upturn of business confidence in the UK’s electronics supply market. The biggest change has come in new markets, such as industrial automation and energy systems.
“We are seeing a significant increase in demand for out-sourced design activity especially in the consumer electronics and white goods markets,” comments Nigel Watts, group managing director, Ismosys, in the ECSN discussion forum on LinkedIn.
Other application areas showing stronger demand for components are wireless control, remote sensing and control.
“Our design funnel has more than doubled in value in these during the past two quarters,” says Watts.
Design activity seems to be strongest in newer applications and not the more traditional UK markets, such as wireless comms, which suffered badly in the 2009/10 recession.
“Some of the older markets that suffered badly at the beginning of the recession may never return to these shores again, however, significant new markets are apparent and we need to make the most of them,” says Watts.
