Don’t you Envia
Envia Systems of California has made a battery which will power a car for between 100 and 200 miles on a single charge, according to the CEO of General Motors.
“I think we’ve got a better than 50-50 chance to develop a car that will go to 200 miles on a charge,” says Dan Akerson, CEO of GM.
Envia is said to have made a technology advance which substantially increases the storage capacity of lithium-ion batteries. Envia says it will halve the cost of the batteries needed to power cars.
GM’s Volt car does 35 miles to the charge. Tesla has a car which goes 300 miles but with alarger battery and a cost twice that of the Volt.
GM has invested $7m in Envia. The Envia battery is likely to be used in the next 2-4 years.
