Marl Manufacturing has set up a UK-based supply partnership with distributor Anglia which it said will allow it to offer “fast turn-around on small volumes and to match offshore manufactured price levels on much higher volumes”.
Marl carries out cable assembly, wiring looms and box build services as well as sub-assembly or complete system build including electronic PCB assembly.
“We now have a strong and very competitive supply chain, based on a UK held and managed stock profile,” said Adrian Rawlinson, managing director of Marl International.
“We aim to provide all the advantages of a flexibly managed local source without a cost penalty,” said Rawlinson.
According to Steve Rawlins, CEO at Anglia, this reflects a swing back to local manufacturing driven by increasing costs overseas and a growing understanding of the hidden costs of a long supply chain.
“Our partnership with Marl brings the transparency, flexibility and simplicity of a local source without a cost penalty on most contracts,” said Rawlins.
“With a one-site operation backed by a short supply chain, Marl Manufacturing has the right infrastructure in place to meet this new demand,” said Rawlins.
Marl has formed a manufacturing services business to offer cable assembly, wiring looms and box build services as well as sub-assembly or complete system build including electronic PCB assembly.
It has invested £400,000 to double manufacturing output and speed up the delivery of prototypes at its site in Ulverston, Cumbria.
