TSMC had record sales in April and expects the record-breaking run to extend into May and June. The company expects to have 132 28nm tape-outs this year.
TSMC had sales of $1.3bn in April – up over 9% from March – and expects sales of $1.4bn in May and $1.5bn in June, giving a Q2 revenue figure of between $4.3bn and $4.4bn.
TSMC cited inventory replenishment and strong orders for chips used in mobile equipment.
TSMC’s neighbour, UMC reported sales up 11.4% in April on March at $306m and a third Taiwanese foundry, Vanguard, reported sales up 26% in April compared to March at $47m.
