Former picoChip unit moving to Intel
picoChip of Bath, which was acquired by MindSpeed last year, is being passed on to Intel.
MindSpeed bought picoChip for $50 million early last year but, last month, was itself bought by M/A Com for $272 million.
Now Intel is about to acquire the wireless assets of MindSpeed which incorporate the femto-cell and small cell technology developed By picoChip at Bath.
Intel is clearly trying to get a foothold in all aspects of the wireless market and the small cell segment is one where it is lacking a presence.
