Good May for top foundries
The world’s two top silicon foundries had a good May.
TSMC says sales were up 21% on May 2011 for revenues of $1.46bn compared with $1.2bn for May 2011 and $1.3bn for April 2012.
UMC says May sales were $306m compared to $314m for May 2011 down 2% year-on-year and up 1% month-on-month.
UMC’s sales for the year to the end of May were $1.4bn down 11% from the %1.6bn for the same period last year.
