Intel is said to be giving up on a proposed diversification into the TV market, reports AllThingsD.
The site says that Intel Media will be sold to Verizon.
To widespread horror at the idea of replicating George Orwell’s Telescreen from 1984, Intel built a set-top box which could recognise the people watching the programmes it delivered.
Intel had hired a BBC exec to head up a team of 300 people to launch the ‘onCue’ service.
