July semi funding up 126% on June, says GSA.
Semiconductor companies and their suppliers raised $72.5m in new capital in July, says the GSA, a figure up 126.6% month-over-month (MoM) and down 11.2% year-over-year (YoY).
Five semiconductor companies and suppliers received funding, the largest of which went to Avalanche Technology at $30m.
84 semiconductor companies have raised $953m in the last twelve months. This is a 17.2% decrease from the $1.2bn raised in the previous twelve months.
No semiconductor companies filed for an IPO in July, but Impinj withdrew its registration filing with the SEC after a significant funding round.
July produced 13 M&A deals - an increase of 30% MoM and 18.2% YoY. The of these was Apple’s acquisition of AuthenTec for $356m.
