Micron looking to foundries for logic collaboration
Micron is looking to the foundry industry for collaboration in making logic ICs for products which combine both logic and memory.
Micron CEO Mark Durcan declined to answer whether or not he was in talks with TSMC on the issue.
Durcan was pointing out to a Taipei meeting that the memory business has changed with mobile devices the engine of growth.
PCs were now taking less than half of the memory usage and in the next four years he expected tablets to grow 33% in units and ultra-thin notebooks to grow 72% while regular notebooks would grow only 4%.
He expects annual unit growth for DRAM to hit 46%.
