Motorola’s Intel smartphone goes on sale in October
Motorola Mobility has launched the MotorolaRAZR i smartphone which has a 2GHz Intel Atom as it media processor.
Motorola RAZR i will be available in October in certain European markets including the UK, France and Germany.
This is potentially the most important smartphone design win for Intel which is trying to compete with lower power ARM-based processors from Qualcomm and Samsung in the mobile handset market.
“Intel’s goal is to provide compelling technology options that translate into great user benefits and experiences. RAZR i is a great proofpoint in the collaboration,” said Erik Reid, general manager, Intel’s Mobile and Communications Group.
The smartphone uses the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich (upgradeable to Jelly Bean) operating system. It also features near field communication (NFC) technology.
The smartphone has a Super AMOLED 4.3-inch display and 8-megapixel camera.
