Samsung ARM-based server IC for 2014
Samsung will be selling ARM-based chips for servers by 2014, says the Seoul Economic Daily.
The report says that Samsung haas been recruiting AMD server people – both IC designers and execs – for it’s Austin, Texas design house where it is building ARM- based ICs to take on Intel’s Xeon processors in the server market.
Apparently AMD’s former general manager for Opteron, Patrick Patla, is now working for Samsung in Austin.
Marvell and Nvidia are also designing ARM-based server processors.
