TSMC August sales 2% up on July
TSMC’s August sales were 2% up on July at $1.65bn compared to July’s $1.61bn. Compared to the $1.25bn of August 2011, the sales were up 32%.
Sales for the year so far – January to August – have been over just over $11bn, 16% up on the $9.5bn of the same period in 2011.
“TSMC’s third quarter 2012 revenues are now expected to be slightly higher than the guidance announced on July 19, primarily due to pull-in of certain customers’ shipments and better-than-expected mask revenue,” says TSMC’s CFO Lora Ho.
Taiwanese rival UMC had revenues of $330m in August, up from the $277m of August 2011 and from the $320m of July 2012.
UMC’s Y-t-d revenues are $2.4bn – down from the $2.45bn of the same period last year.
In July, UMC saw revenues climb 3.49% on June and over 9% on July 2011.
July’s $320m revenues were up from the $310m of June 2011 and up on the $293m of July 2011.
