Vicor’s new marketing v-p reviews sales strategy
Vicor is expected to change its product marketing strategy following the appointment of a new v-p of sales.
Philip Davies has joined the power module and IC supplier as v-p for global sales and marketing and his first job will be to review Vicor’s marketing strategy.
“I will look at how the company goes to market,” Davies told Electronics Weekly.
It is likely that the new man will bring an end-market focus to the business, which has traditionally been aligned with the firm’s three main product areas: brick DC-DC converters, V.I Chip point-of-load converters and Picor power ICs.
“I will be bringing a new market focus to the business,” said Davies.
“Each product line will have a unique strategy and I will overlay this with specific end-market segment objectives,” said Davies.
Davies is not considering an immediate change to the company’s supply chain strategy, but he will identfity specific markets which he feels the power firm should target.
“I see certain product lines taking a lead in specific markets,” said Davies.
Davies said he will be able to give more details of the new marketing strategy in the next month or two.
Davies has joined Vicor from lighting firm Osram Sylvania. Before this he worked with Analog Devices, Allegro Micro Systems and Siliconix.
